About Jeremy
Jeremy Bartels is the founder of The Bartels Law Firm, where he represents clients in a variety of civil litigation contexts. Jeremy's practice involves client representation at all stages of litigation in employment law, insurance law, personal injury and other complex litigation matters.
Jeremy is also honored to frequently serve as a Judge Pro Tempore for several Western-Washington jurisdictions. A Judge Pro Tempore is an attorney entrusted by the elected or appointed judge to conduct court and perform the judge's duties and responsibilities when that judge is unable to do so.
Jeremy is an attorney because he has a passion for justice and because he loves to fight for the rights of people who have been wronged. He considers it an honor to be entrusted with his client's important legal matters and looks forward to fighting hard for you.
Education and Background
Jeremy grew up in the Seattle area and attended Vanderbilt University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering. After graduating, Jeremy spent a year working for the Davidson County Public Defender's Office in Nashville, Tennessee, while simultaneously teaching school and tutoring Vanderbilt University athletes. He then attended law school at Seattle University School of Law, where he was twice the mock trial champion. He represented the law school in regional mock trial competitions in both his second and third years. He graduated cum laude as a member of the school's distinguished Moot Court Board and as a member of the Order of the Barristers.
Jeremy started his legal career working at a small firm where he participated in the litigation of suits ranging from small injury claims to wrongful death actions. While there, he argued at the Superior Court level in the seminal case of Davis v. Baugh, et al., which eventually reached the Supreme Court and resulted in the permanent excision of a legal standard that had been in place for 100 years in Washington.
Following his work at the civil firm, Jeremy spent four years as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Snohomish County where he completed dozens of trials at both the misdemeanor and felony levels, achieving a conviction rate of 98%. During this time, Jeremy prosecuted a wide range of cases including assaults, driving related offenses, theft, fraud, forgery, home invasions, delivery of narcotics, and homicide.
Following his time as a Deputy Prosecutor, Jeremy worked for three years at a civil litigation firm where he
represented both plaintiff and defense clients in a variety of civil litigation matters.
Jeremy then joined the Washington State Attorney General's Office where he represented the State in civil commitment proceedings that were initiated against Sexually Violent Predators (SVP). His practice at the Attorney General's Office consisted of complex, expert-driven civil litigation practice. Jeremy never lost a jury trial during his time with the Attorney General's Office.
Before founding The Bartels Law Firm, Jeremy worked for a boutique law firm where he engaged in personal injury, employment, insurance litigation and complex business and personal litigation matters.
